Frequently Asked Questions
The Spa
What are your hours?
The Spa is open daily from 8:00am-7:00pm, with the Spa amenities available until 6:45pm. The Indoor Pool and the Fitness Center are open daily from 7:00am – 7:00pm.
Do I need to make an appointment at the spa?
We recommend that you schedule spa services and private instruction 2 – 3 weeks in advance in order to better secure a treatment time most convenient to you. Reservations are subject to availability and must be guaranteed by a credit card. To speak with one of our spa coordinators, please call 877.877.2664. Within the Mountain House, please dial extension 2751 from any House phone. Spa and fitness rates are subject to change; please call to confirm our current rates.
I am not an overnight guest. Can I still use the spa?
Day Guests are welcome to book spa appointments and private instruction, subject to availability. Please note, the fitness center and indoor pool are reserved for overnight guests only. We invite day visitors to consider our special Day Spa Packages.
Should I arrive early for my spa appointment?
Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your service. Late arrival will, unfortunately, preclude receiving the full time for your treatment. In addition, arriving early to use the facilities such as the mineral pool will warm muscles and increase the effectiveness of massage treatments.
What if I need to cancel my spa appointment?
Please call 24 hours in advance if you need to change or cancel your appointment, otherwise you will be charged for the service. Appointments missed without the 24-hour cancellation notice will result in a 100% charge for reserved services.
What is your cell phone/electronics policy?
To preserve our tranquil environment and guest privacy, we do not allow the use of electronic devices such as cell phones, cameras, e-readers, and iPads while in the spa and salon areas. We require that these devices be turned off and secured in your locker during your spa visit.
Do I need to tip my service provider?
We have inclusive service rates. We wish to advise you there is no need for you to offer gratuities.
Can I book a spa appointment for my child?
Guests must be 18 or older for massage and body treatments; facials and salon services are offered to guests age 16 and up.
Please note that any guest under the age of 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult in the pool area.
What should I bring to my spa appointment?
To enjoy the amenities of the spa wing, you are invited to bring your bathing suit. Complimentary use of our spa robes, sandals, and lockers is provided for all spa treatment guests. Please do not bring jewelry or other valuables to the spa. Unfortunately, we are not able to take responsibility for valuables that are lost or left at the spa. The spa and fitness facilities are alcohol- and smoke-free environments. Food and food service is not permitted nor provided in the Spa, fitness center, or pool areas.
Do you work on Gel, Acrylics or Shellac Nails?
We service only natural nails. We do not remove gel or shellac polish.
What should I wear during a spa treatment?
Our staff is trained in proper draping designed to ensure modesty and comfort throughout the service. However, if you are more comfortable, you may wear undergarments for your treatment. Disposable undergarments are also available upon request.
How can I purchase a spa gift card?
Whether for an anniversary, birthday, or holiday gift, a Spa gift card is a wonderful way to say “congratulations,” “thank you,” or “thinking of you.” Gift cards may be purchased in the spa lobby, by calling 877.877.2664, or online.
I am pregnant. Can I still book an appointment?
Please inform us when scheduling your appointment so we may assist you in selecting the appropriate treatment. We always recommend that you consult your physician if you have questions regarding spa use and treatment considerations. Please avoid treatments and areas featuring heat, warm stones, deep pressure and aromatherapy, as well as steam room, sauna, and heated mineral pool. Some treatments are not recommended in the first trimester.
Are the products you use available for purchase?
Our skin care and body care lines are by Éminence, an organic line from Hungary using herbs and fruits, and Naturopathica®, a natural line from New York State. These and our own private label products are available in the spa lobby. OM4 (Organic Male 4) used in the gentlemen’s treatments is also available for sale.
What else is available during my visit?
The Spa at Mohonk Mountain House has verandas, a solarium, and a mineral pool. These amenities are available only to guests ages 16 and over receiving spa and private wellness treatments. Please note, bathing suits are required for use of the outdoor heated mineral pool.
Are food and drinks available?
For your convenience, we offer complimentary herbal or black teas to enjoy in the verandas or solarium before and after your spa services. Bringing personal food or drink into the spa is not permitted.
Is there a smoking area?
No. Please remember that the entire Spa wing and associated outdoor terraces, including the mineral pool area and green roof, along with the entire Mountain House, is a no smoking facility.
I have a medical condition. Can I still book a treatment?
We always recommend that you consult with your physician if you have questions or concerns regarding spa use and treatment considerations. Please inform us of any medical or special needs such as high blood pressure, allergies, pregnancy, or any other special circumstances that may require our attention.
Is your staff licensed?
All of our massage therapists, aestheticians, cosmetologists, and nail technicians are well-qualified professionals, licensed in New York State. Mohonk professional massage and aesthetics staff receive advanced training to provide spa services to individuals experiencing cancer and mastectomy.
